Shoes are laced up...

Shoes are laced up,
the bags are packed.
Headbands, sports beans,
body glide galore.
Ipod loaded with tunes,
to keep me on pace.
Spandex, Wright socks
and Bio-freeze.
Bodybugg, Pacing watch,
and a spi belt.

NEVER did I think I would
know what half these items were...
let alone WANT them!
For the past 3 years I have been
addicted to Running Marathons!
It all started with a need to lose
some weight. I started slow...
only able to walk a mile a day.
Then moved it to 3, 5, 8 miles a day.
And before I knew it I was jogging
those miles everyday.
I set a goal to walk a FULL Marathon
(26.2 miles) I cant tell how accomplished
and proud I felt when I crossed that
finish line running, in 2009.

Ever since then I made a goal to
myself to never give up!
NOW don't get the wrong idea,
I am NOT a fast runner!
I like to tell others I am a
"slow but steady" runner.
For ME that is OK !
I do compete against my
own time, trying to improve
each race. Although to be honest
with you half the time I pay no
attention to the clock.
I am just focused on finishing!

I cant say thank you enough to all
those who believe in me.
My husband & daughter
are my biggest supporters.
I LOOK forward to seeing them
at each race in the crowd cheering
me on. It is such a help to me.
Because when I hit Mile 18-20
when the "mental head games"
start, my saving grace is KNOWING
they will be there waiting for me.
Not to mention that for the past (3)
Summer's, they have allowed me to
schedule a Marathon during our
family vacation! (lol) I am
soooo NOT kidding!
(Including this coming race in
San Diego, CA.)

I am thrilled to say this next race
the San Diego Rock-N-Roll Marathon
will be my 12th completed Marathon!
I cant wait to add that medal to
the collection I have!

ANYONE can DO ANYTHING
if they have the guts to start!
See you at the finish line,
Lark
